A radiophonic opportunity came my way recently when I met up with the founder, mover and shaker of Afropolitaine an exciting expressive platform for urban black women in the greater Paris region. Β Melissa creates content and organises events that impact the lives of a visible but invisible community. It was a pleasure to share a minute with her talking about art therapy and horticultural therapy. Here is a link to the video version which has a few issues towards the end. We probably ran out of memory as we had not intended to chat for that long. But the radio version is complete and ends with my paraphrasing Audre Lorde’s classic idea, expressed in her seminal book, Β A burst of Light, that self care is a radical political act. In case you don’t know this woman poet, engaged queer writer and cancer victim, you might consider catching up.
